Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Regulated by both the UK FCA and the Dutch AFM across two legal entities
  • Largest pan European trading venue by volume, near a quarter of the market
  • Backed by Cboe Global Markets, a large, publicly listed exchange operator
  • Split UK and EU venues keep trading inside the rules after Brexit

Cons

  • Not a broker, so individual retail traders cannot open an account here
  • No minimum deposit, spread, or leverage exists since this is an exchange
  • Access depends entirely on using a bank or broker that is already a member
About Cboe Europe

Cboe Europe traces back to Chi X Europe and BATS Europe, two trading venues launched around 2007 and 2008. BATS bought Chi X Europe in 2011 and combined them, and the FCA promoted the merged venue to full exchange status in 2013. Cboe Global Markets took over after its 2017 merger with Bats Global Markets.

Today Cboe Europe Limited runs the UK side of the business under FCA regulation, while Cboe Europe B.V. handles the EU side from Amsterdam under the Dutch AFM. This split exists because of Brexit, so trading inside the European Economic Area stays under EU rules. Cboe Europe lists European equities, ETFs, and structured products, and by early 2025 it held close to a quarter of European cash equity trading.

This is an exchange, not a retail broker. Individual traders cannot open an account here directly. Access only comes through a bank or broker that is already a member, so there is no minimum deposit, spread, or leverage to compare like a normal forex broker.
