About Bolsa de Valores de Colombia (BVC)

Bolsa de Valores de Colombia, known as the bvc, was formed on July 3, 2001. It merged three older regional exchanges, the Bogota exchange from 1928, the Medellin exchange from 1961, and the Occidente exchange in Cali from 1983. It now keeps offices in all three cities.

The bvc lists Colombian shares tracked by the COLCAP index, government bonds called TES, listed derivatives launched in 2008, and repo transactions. Since 2011 it has also been part of MILA, a linked regional market that connects it with the Santiago, Lima, and Mexico exchanges for cross border trading through local brokers.

Colombia's Superintendencia Financiera oversees the bvc as a market infrastructure provider, though the exchange itself has no direct regulatory power over its members. This is not a retail forex broker, so ideas like minimum deposit or leverage do not apply. It joined the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative in 2014.
