About BTIG

BTIG was founded in 2002 as an institutional brokerage built around equities and equity derivatives, later adding fixed income and other asset classes. It grew a global footprint with trading desks across the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia, serving hedge funds, asset managers, and other institutions rather than everyday retail traders.

In the US, the firm operates as BTIG, LLC, a FINRA member broker dealer. In the UK, BTIG Limited is authorised by the FCA. In January 2026, U.S. Bancorp agreed to buy BTIG, and the deal closed on June 1, 2026. BTIG now continues to trade under its own name as a separate broker dealer inside U.S. Bancorp.

BTIG's record is not spotless. FINRA fined the firm 600,000 dollars after dozens of staff used unapproved messaging apps for business communication for years, breaking record keeping rules. The FCA has also warned about a clone firm called BTIG H10 that copies BTIG's name to trick people, so always confirm you are dealing with the real company.
