Bolsa de Santiago, formally the Bolsa de Comercio de Santiago, opened on November 27, 1893. It is Chile's dominant stock exchange and the third largest in Latin America, behind Brazil's B3 and Mexico's BMV. Its exchange building in downtown Santiago was finished in 1917 and is now a protected monument.
The exchange lists stocks, bonds, investment funds, options, and futures, and it even trades gold and silver coins minted by Chile's central bank. Its main share index is the IPSA, made up of the 40 most traded stocks. Trading runs on the electronic Telepregon system, alongside limited floor trading. The exchange does not buy or sell securities directly for the public.
Chile's CMF, the Comision para el Mercado Financiero, regulates and supervises the exchange and its member brokers. This is not a retail forex broker, so ideas like minimum deposit or leverage do not apply. In 2014 it joined the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative as a partner.
