About Two Sigma

John Overdeck and David Siegel started Two Sigma in New York in 2001. It grew into one of the largest quantitative hedge fund managers in the world, using data science and machine learning to run its trading models, and it does not take everyday retail trading clients.

By 2025 the firm managed roughly 70 billion dollars. Leadership changed in August 2024, when Overdeck and Siegel stepped back as co chief executives and Carter Lyons and Scott Hoffman took over. Its market making arm, Two Sigma Securities, LLC, is a Delaware company formed in 2008, registered with FINRA under CRD number 148960.

FINRA BrokerCheck lists 18 regulatory disclosure events for Two Sigma Securities, LLC, though the firm is not currently suspended by any regulator. It is registered with the SEC, 25 self regulatory organizations, and 2 states. Two Sigma itself operates as a private investment firm, so it has no public minimum deposit or retail trading terms.
