About ActivTrades

ActivTrades is a forex and CFD broker that began as a stockbrokerage in Switzerland in 2001. Founder Alex Pusco moved the business to London in 2005, and it has grown into a firm of more than 200 staff with extra offices in Milan, Sofia and Nassau.

The group holds licenses in five places: the UK, Portugal, Brazil, the Bahamas and Mauritius. Its main UK entity, ActivTrades Plc, answers to the Financial Conduct Authority. Traders here only open forex and CFD positions, not real shares or bonds, using MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, TradingView or its own ActivTrader app. Retail accounts get negative balance protection plus extra Lloyd's insurance up to $1,000,000.

The record is not spotless. In 2011 the FCA fined ActivTrades Plc 85,750 pounds for failing to separate and reconcile client money correctly during 2009 and 2010. No client lost money, and the firm fixed its systems afterward. ActivTrades now also runs a refer a friend scheme paying existing clients up to $500 per new client.
