Pros
- Now backed by Kraken, a well capitalised crypto exchange, after a 1.5 billion dollar deal
- Registered as a futures commission merchant with the NFA and CFTC since 2001
- Offers direct market access to global futures exchanges through its AT platform
- Shares infrastructure with NinjaTrader and Tradovate under the same clearing entity
Cons
- CFTC fined the parent entity 750,000 dollars plus restitution in 2024
- The failure let frozen fraud linked accounts lose over 200,000 dollars in value
- The original TransAct Futures brand no longer operates as an independent company
- Now regulated as one brand inside a larger multi brand clearing entity
TransAct Futures registered with the NFA in 2001 as an independent futures broker. NinjaTrader Group bought it in late 2020, then folded it into one entity, NinjaTrader Clearing, LLC, which also trades as NinjaTrader, Tradovate and Kraken Derivatives US. In May 2025 Kraken completed its 1.5 billion dollar purchase of NinjaTrader, so TransAct Futures now sits inside Kraken's group.
In September 2024 the CFTC ordered NinjaTrader Clearing to pay a 750,000 dollar penalty plus 233,425 dollars in restitution. Regulators found the firm failed to properly freeze accounts covered by a court order in an unrelated fraud case, letting frozen positions lose over 200,000 dollars in value.
TransAct Futures still offers direct market access to US and global futures exchanges through its own AT platform and API, alongside NinjaTrader's retail tools. It remains regulated as a futures commission merchant by the NFA and CFTC, now as part of a much larger, well capitalised group.
