Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Had a genuine operating history tracing back to Swiss roots in 1995
  • Was legitimately MFSA Malta licensed for six years, from 2009 to 2015
  • The 2015 closure was a voluntary surrender, not a regulatory finding against it
  • Its closure was widely and openly reported at the time, not hidden

Cons

  • No confirmed active regulator today, over a decade after its Malta license lapsed
  • Its rtfx.com website no longer loads at all
  • realtimeforex.com now redirects to an unrelated, unconnected website
  • Not a broker we can recommend opening a new account with today
About RTFX

RTFX traces back to Gay, Glauser and Cie, a Swiss company founded in 1995, which became Realtime Forex SA in 2000, described as Switzerland's first online market maker for foreign exchange. RTFX Limited was set up in Malta in 2009 as a split of that business, licensed by the MFSA under a Category 3 Investment Services Licence.

The MFSA's own notice, reference number 54 of 2015, confirms RTFX Limited voluntarily surrendered that license, effective 4 August 2015, and states this was not the result of any regulatory action. Industry press at the time reported the firm closing its business after six years of Malta regulation.

More than a decade later, we could not find any active regulator covering RTFX or Realtime Forex. Its old rtfx.com address no longer loads, and realtimeforex.com now redirects to an unrelated, unconnected website. We treat RTFX as a closed broker and do not recommend opening a new account with it.
