- London entity kept a limited FCA license after the 2022 restructuring
Cons

Renaissance Capital Africa is the Africa focused investment banking arm of Renaissance Capital, a group founded in Russia in 1995. It offers merger advice, capital raising, and prime brokerage to companies and institutions across Nigeria, Kenya, and other African markets.
Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine hit the wider group hard. Western sanctions pushed Renaissance Capital to wind down its London, New York, and Johannesburg offices that year, and most of its roughly 60 London staff lost their jobs. The London entity, Renaissance Capital Limited, kept a limited FCA license for fixed income and equity trading, but never returned to its old size there.
The African side kept running through this. Renaissance Capital Kenya Limited remains one of 22 banks licensed by Kenya's Capital Markets Authority as of 2026, and teams in Lagos and Johannesburg still arrange bond issues and share sales. This is an institutional bank, not a retail broker, with no personal trading account to open.
