About Meristem Securities

Meristem Securities traces back to 2003, when Great Africa Securities Limited was set up as a spinoff from Great Africa Trust in Lagos, Nigeria. In 2005, the firm rebranded as Meristem Securities Limited.

Meristem has since grown into a group of seven subsidiaries, including Stockbrokers, Wealth Management, Registrars and Probate Services, Trustees, Capital, and Finance. The stockbroking arm, Meristem Stockbrokers Limited, is registered with Nigeria's SEC as a Broker/Dealer, file number 1705, and the wider group is also regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria. In 2014, Meristem launched Meritrade, the first online trading platform in the history of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

Meristem Securities is not a forex or CFD broker. It has no leveraged currency trading platform, so figures like spreads and maximum leverage do not apply here. It suits investors who want direct access to Nigerian shares and fixed income rather than currency speculation.
