Lightspeed traces back to a 2006 spinoff of Etrade's professional trading platform, and today operates as Lightspeed Financial Services Group LLC, a broker dealer based in Morristown, New Jersey. It targets active traders rather than casual, buy and hold investors.
Its newest platform, Lightspeed Trader Pro, adds an AI chat feature and around the clock access to US markets, alongside Sterling Trader Pro, Eze EMS and a web and mobile app. Traders can access stocks, ETFs, options and futures. Per share pricing starts at $0.0010 for very high volume accounts but rises to $0.0035 for smaller ones, plus a $25 monthly fee under $15,000 balance.
Lightspeed Financial Services Group LLC is a member of FINRA, NFA and SIPC. It recently dropped its account minimum from an old $25,000 style barrier to just $2,500 for US residents and $5,000 for clients opening an account from outside the country.
