Pros
- Held continuous NFA registration from 1999 until 2021
- Founder James Cordier wrote a widely read book on option selling
- Gave clients a named account manager instead of a call centre
- Followed one clear, published strategy instead of vague promises
Cons
- Renamed itself to OptionSellers.com in 2014 with little public notice
- Client accounts lost more than 100 million dollars in November 2018
- Some clients owed the clearing broker more than they had deposited
- A CFTC judge ordered it to pay one client 49,723 dollars in 2014
- Left the NFA in 2021 and stopped operating as a regulated broker
- Required a 250,000 dollar minimum, so it never served small traders
James Cordier and Michael Gross started Liberty Trading Group in Tampa, Florida, in 1999. It joined the National Futures Association as an introducing broker. Later it became a commodity trading advisor. It sold options on commodities to wealthy clients, not spot forex.
In 2014, Florida records show it renamed to OptionSellers.com, Inc. It kept selling deep out of the money options. In November 2018, natural gas prices jumped fast. Many client accounts lost all their money. Some clients even owed their broker more than they had put in.
Independent reports put the losses above 100 million dollars. NFA records show it left the NFA on 18 June 2021. It is no longer regulated. The firm is closed today. It is not a place to open a new account.
