- Six more licenses cover Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and beyond
- Runs MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 with a low $10 starting deposit
- More than a decade of trading history since it launched in 2012
Cons
- The main global website is run by the Mauritius entity, not the FCA one
- Its UAE license cannot legally hold client money at all
- Leverage up to 1:1000 on ECN and Pro accounts is a high risk setting
- Mauritius regulation gives much weaker protection than the FCA does
EC Markets has traded for more than a decade and offers forex, metals, energy, indices, and crypto CFDs through MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. The Standard account opens from just $10, while the ECN account needs $2,000 and the Pro account needs $5,000. Leverage can reach 1:1000 on ECN and Pro accounts.
The group holds licenses from the FCA in the UK, ASIC in Australia, the FMA in New Zealand, the FSCA in South Africa, the Seychelles FSA, and the Mauritius FSC, plus a limited UAE license that cannot hold client money. Its own legal pages confirm the main ecmarkets.com website is operated by the Mauritius entity, EC Markets Limited, not the FCA authorised UK company.
That distinction matters because EC Markets itself says the site is not intended for UK, EU, or US residents, and Mauritius regulation gives far less protection than the FCA does. A UK based trader who wants FCA level cover should confirm which entity actually opens their account before depositing.
