About AvaTrade

AvaTrade started trading in Dublin in 2006 and is privately owned. In 2015, Playtech tried to buy the group for $105 million, but Ireland's central bank blocked the deal. AvaTrade now trades through separate firms in Ireland, Cyprus, Australia, Japan, and South Africa.

The broker offers forex, stocks, indices, commodities, bonds, and crypto as CFDs, plus options through AvaOptions. You can trade on MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, or its own AvaTradeGO app. A standard retail account gets spreads from 0.9 pips, not the 0.6 pips shown in some ads, since that lower rate is for professional accounts only.

AvaTrade holds real licenses, including Ireland's central bank and ASIC in Australia, but its record has dents. Canadian regulators in Alberta and Saskatchewan fined the group and made it repay investors after an unregistered trading platform. Israel's regulator has fined the local unit three times. On Trustpilot, AvaTrade averages 4.5 out of 5, but its Australian page sits at just 2.3.
