Pros
- Backed by BNP Paribas since 2023, a major global bank with deep resources
- Handles more than 27 billion dollars in FX volume across 140 currencies
- Authorised by both the FCA in the UK and the Bank of Spain as a payment institution
- ISO 27001 certified for information security
Cons
- Licensed as a payment institution, not as a fully regulated investment broker
- No public pricing or minimum deposit, terms are set per enterprise contract
- Built only for businesses, individual retail traders cannot open an account
- Payment institution status carries fewer investor protections than broker regulation
Kantox started in 2011 and builds software that automates currency hedging, pricing and payments for company treasurers, not retail traders. BNP Paribas bought Kantox in July 2023, and the company still runs its own brand from offices in London and Barcelona.
Kantox Limited is authorised by the FCA in the UK as a payment institution, not as a full investment firm, and Kantox European Union SL is authorised the same way by the Bank of Spain. This licence type covers payments and currency execution, it does not carry the same investor protections as an FCA regulated broker.
The platform reports handling more than 27 billion dollars across 140 currencies for clients in 83 countries. There is no public retail pricing or minimum deposit, since Kantox only signs businesses through a custom enterprise contract, not individual walk in traders.
