iBanFirst started in Paris in 2013 as FX4BIZ, founded by Pierre Antoine Dusoulier. It rebranded to iBanFirst in 2016 and moved its base to Brussels, growing from a simple FX tool into a wider business payments platform.
The company is authorised as a payment institution by the National Bank of Belgium, and in August 2024 its UK arm gained its own FCA electronic money license. It offers spot FX and forward contracts tied to real business payments, in more than 140 currencies across over 180 countries, and keeps client money in segregated accounts under PSD2 rules.
By 2026 iBanFirst ran 13 offices across 10 European countries with roughly 376 staff on four continents. It reported its first full year of profit in 2024 on 65 million euros of revenue, and later took on a 243 million dollar partnership with Marlin Equity Partners to fund further growth.
